Mr Munceys 1973 Jaguar XJ6 S1 4.2Ltr

Kept in the family from new, and spending much of its life in Spain, this Series 1 XJ is being restored by Mr. P Muncey and his son Jake. We have been commissioned to fully restore the shell, and return the car to the Munceys painted and ready for them to reassemble.

The car was delivered as a bare rolling shell.

Although generally in suprisingly sound order, the drivers inner and outer sill required replacing - along with adjoing floor seam.

Braced to prevent flex. The rear door piller required refabricating.

Inner sills repaired, the outer is fitted along with the repaired door piller.

Both rear wheelarches required sections letting in.The rear valance was typical.

Although appearing sound on first inspection, both front wings require major repairs.

The inner and outer headlamp bowl was remade on the drivers side. Repairs were also need on the lower edge, and rear mounting panel.

A common area on any Series car - the front crossmember was replaced.

The passenger front wing required similar attention. The passenger front door skin was replaced due to accident damage.

Both rear Seat belt mounts needed repair, as did the fuel tank closing panels.

There is little to do now before prep and paint at LWA Bodyshop.

The shell now in primer, awaiting top coat at LWA.

The shell now painted, and the Waxoyling begins.

The inner shell has been cleaned off, re sealed where needed, and coated with fresh Red Oxide.

Doors being aligned and trimmed up.

The shell reassembled, and returned to the customer.
