As of October 2019, XjRestorations will no longer be carrying out engine or gearbox building in house.

We can recommend local services, but will no longer undertake such work.

Harry Metcalfe, founder of Evo magazine and advisor to Jaguars 'Special Vehicle Operations' brought his XJ12C to us earlier this year for our performance suspension package and a few other mods.

Harry runs 'Harry's Garage' on Youtube - a fine TopGear alternative. Here is Harry's review, showing off the improvements made to the car.

The look on his face says it all!

After a lengthy process to correctly restore this recently modified 6.0ltr XJ Coupe, it has finally graced the pages of the international 'Jaguar World' magazine.

A visit from Jaguar Worlds Jim Patten in February saw a great review of the recently completed Avon Daimler DoubleSix. See the May 2016 issues of Jaguar World for the full report;

" Beachy Head in the summer can be very windy. In January it is positively gale like. But the day was clear and we even grasped the opportunity to lower that hood. It took longer than the minute promised but Keith and I had it down quickly enough. The V12 started instantly was smooth to the point of being sublime. Heading off towards Beachy Head the roads were bereft of tourist traffic and had the temperature not been so low, it would have been the perfect day. I drove with my thumb twixt door and A-post, feeling for any scuttle shake. Either my digit was numb from cold or this is one very taught car. Even through the tight bends, following the coastline it was very controlled and every inch a true Daimler Double Six. With the hood erect if felt cosy and warm inside with no drafts, thankfully! "

Jaguar Worlds Jim Patten visited us again to report on a Coupe running one of our fast road engines combined with a ZF 4 speed automatic conversion. The full report is to be found in June 2016's magazine.

" Taken in isolation, this gearbox is a tremendous improvement and of course will be instantly familiar to XJ40 owners. But it seems even more impressive when done as part of an overall package. There’s nothing radical with this coupe but where it scores is having all of the standard components rebuilt to such a high standard. With all of the basics working exactly as they should, the chassis, also designed to cope with the V12 engine, is more than capable of dealing with the more powerful six-cylinder engine shifting through a lighter gearbox. "

Pre season testing for the XjRestorations/Toyo Tyres GT and Saloon race season comes to Brands Hatch.

The day consists of a briefing, followed by demonstration/sighting laps with newcomers as passengers. The Instructor will talk you round the circuit. There follows one-to-one laps with the Instructor sitting alongside &, when you are ready, you can go out alone.

Instructors’ services may be used throughout the day. Track sessions in groups of around 20 cars for up 15 minutes and you may run as many sessions as time permits, normally a total of 2.5 hours track time. The circuit is marshalled & closely regulated to ensure those new to trackdays get the very best experience.
