Mr Baldocks 1973 E-type S3 Roadster |
Repair work for the looming MOT, and further improvements to this already exceptional car.
The trailing arm mounts had holed by the jacking points.
With vast amount of underseal having been applied, it was hard to assess the damage at first.
With it all removed, the entire trailing arm mount structure was heavily corroded both sides.
This is quite a complex area, as being both a convertible AND a V12, these areas are subjected to great force!
The area is slowly repaired, peice at a time.
Both rear wheelarches had blistering around the arch lip.
With the paint removed, a previous repair was evident on the drivers side. A lot of lead loading work had been carried out, but is now moving.
The lower wing and rear of the sill being repaired.
The wheelarches had some minor blistering that needed attending to.
With the paint removed, a previous repair was visible. A panel had been fabricated, and then loaded with Lead to obtain a shape. This was burned off and the repair removed. The inner arch had also been repaired.
A new section of inner arch was fabricated.
The Martin Robey repair panels are very good - with only minor fettling required.
Sections of the lower wing were fabricated and let in.
The passenger side required the same repair work to the trailing mount, jacking point, inner/outer wheelarch, and sill/valance sections. |
The factory joint areas are now loaded with fresh lead, giving a smooth METAL finish! |
Corrosion had also set in around the throttle pedal mount. |
A fresh section fabricated and let in.
Light filler work was needed to iron out minor ripples to the repairs - now ready for paint. |
The finished, painted repairs.
