Our own 1977 Jaguar XJ Coupe

Bought initially as a spares car, the shell proved to be very good. The car came with no interior to speak of, no history (just a V5), and with the wrong engine and gearbox. The plan is to rebuild the car, and use a 4.0ltr AJ6 engine and 'Sport' auto gearbox to produce a smooth, good looking tourer.

As purchased. The car did not run, and had been stripped for bodywork by the previous keeper.

The passenger rear wheelarch required a replacement front inner and outer section.

Both front wings required minor repairs to the lower mounting panels.

The windscreen scuttle had corroded.

A repair section was fabricated and let in.

The rear valance had corroded - as is common!

The majority of the panel was good, so a repair section was fabricated and let in.

We are by no means painters - but as an experiment we painted the car 'in house'. The results are actually very good!

The finished combination will be Old English White with a black top.

Due to commitments with work, a lack of time has forced the reluctant sale of the Coupe. The car now belongs to Mr Makin, with the promise of progress reports!

Work will soon resume on the S1 Daimler.
